Why Did We Develop a Wedding Planning software?
Some years ago, my wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary (thank you for all your kind wishes). While planning the arrangements — the guest list, menus, gifts and a hundred other logistical details — I leaned heavily on Excel and paper diaries. And, fairly quickly, I got frustrated like crazy.
The data was scattered everywhere, and I had to personally update everything — even though several different people were each looking after different aspects of the planning. Then a horrifying thought struck me: how on earth was I going to handle this management nightmare when my son got married in the near future?
So I went looking for a good software solution — and found that there simply wasn’t a quality option in the market. The few that existed were built for American-style weddings, and were all single-computer applications, which meant I would still be the one stuck updating every record by hand. Indian weddings, with their many ceremonies, large guest lists and teams of helpers, were an afterthought at best.
What does a software development company do in a situation like that? It sets out to build the tool that should have existed. So that is exactly what we did. We talked to people, ran surveys, and dug into the real pain points faced by other parents and families wrestling with the same challenges — and we built the solution around them.
Introducing WedPlan
WedPlan is the wedding planning software that makes your life easier with integrated planning and management built in. There is nothing to download or install — you simply sign up and start using it from any browser, on a laptop or a phone.
Add the family members, friends and relatives who are helping you run the show, assign responsibilities, and watch updates flow in across every area in real time. Get a clear summary on a single dashboard, then drill down into any area for a detailed look whenever you need it. Everyone sees the same up-to-date information, so you are no longer the lone person keeping the records straight.
The result is what we wanted all along: more free time to actually enjoy the rituals and celebrations with your family, secure in the knowledge that the arrangements are proceeding smoothly. More than a decade on, WedPlan continues to help families and planners do exactly that — and in 2026 it is better than ever.
