Every family has attended that sangeet: the one where the programme started an hour late, act four's track would not play, and the audience had eaten and left before the couple danced. None of that is bad luck. A sangeet is a live show, and live shows run on line-ups, rehearsals, sound checks and a run sheet. Here is how to produce one.
The short answer: cap the show at 8 to 12 acts of 3 to 4 minutes inside a 90-minute programme, start choreography 4 to 6 weeks out with a full run-through two days before, hand the DJ one ordered file set and seat a named cousin at the console, hire an anchor for anything over six acts, sound-check at 4 pm not 7 pm, open big, place the parents' dance two-thirds in, close with the couple and then open the floor. How do you build a line-up that holds the room?
Curate, do not collect. The invitation to perform goes wide, but the show itself holds 8 to 12 acts; everyone else joins a group medley. Order the acts like a producer:

- Alternate energies: never three slow or three similar acts in a row; break dance blocks with a singing act or a funny video.
- Parents at the two-thirds mark: it is the emotional peak of the night, and everything after it rides that wave.
- Couple last, floor open after: the couple's act is the finale; the DJ then pulls everyone up, which is the real point of a sangeet.
Collect each act's final track two weeks out, trimmed to performance length. "Bhaiya will send the song tomorrow" is how 11 pm finales happen.
How should rehearsals be scheduled?
Start 4 to 6 weeks before the sangeet. A professional choreographer covering a family line-up needs 6 to 10 sessions; self-choreographed acts need at least two group rehearsals plus individual practice to shared videos. The non-negotiable is the full-cast run-through two days before, on the actual stage or an equivalent-sized floor, in performance order, with the actual tracks. It surfaces every problem while there is still time: the duo who never rehearsed together, the track with the wrong version, the eight-person act that does not fit the stage.
